The Narendra Modi government has decided to distribute three months’ worth of ration\u2014all at once\u2014to eligible beneficiaries during the month of April, under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).<\/p>\n

This comes as good news for ration card holders. Taking into account the needs of the underprivileged sections of society, the Modi-led Central Government has taken a significant decision. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), the Modi government has decided to distribute three months’ worth of ration\u2014covering the months of April, May, and June\u2014to eligible beneficiaries in a single distribution during April.<\/p>\n

This arrangement is set to be implemented starting in April 2026. Under current regulations, each individual is entitled to 5 kilograms of food grains per month; based on this three-month calculation, a single beneficiary will receive a total of 15 kilograms of food grains (5 kg x 3 months) during the month of April itself. Beneficiaries can collect their ration from their nearest Fair Price Shop (FPS)\u2014commonly known as a ration shop\u2014during the designated time slots. To ensure a smooth process and avoid any inconvenience, it is essential for beneficiaries to keep track of the scheduled dates and timings. The distribution of rations will be conducted exclusively through ePOS machines, utilizing either fingerprint or iris scanning for authentication.<\/p>\n

e-KYC is Mandatory for Ration Card Holders<\/p>\n

Please note that ration benefits will be extended only to those ration card holders who have successfully completed the e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) process. Cardholders who have not yet completed their e-KYC and Aadhaar linking procedures have until March 31, 2026, to finalize these formalities.<\/p>\n

The purpose behind the Ration Card e-KYC\u2014or ‘Know Your Customer’\u2014initiative is to verify the identities of ration card holders and to eliminate fraudulent or bogus ration cards.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Completing the e-KYC process ensures that benefits are directed solely to those who are genuinely eligible. Furthermore, it facilitates the cancellation of any fraudulent ration cards that may have been issued in someone’s name. As part of the e-KYC procedure, every member listed on a ration card is required to verify and match their personal details\u2014such as name, date of birth, etc.\u2014against the data linked to their Aadhaar card. Rice for the period from April to June 2026 will be distributed in a single lot; instructions have been issued to complete the distribution by April 30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
