An incident in Guna district\u2014involving the seizure of a cash sum of \u20b91 crore on a National Highway, followed by a ‘deal’ to release it\u2014has sent shockwaves through the state’s political landscape and police department. Expressing strong displeasure over the matter, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has issued directives to remove Guna Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Soni with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister has made it clear that administrative laxity and irregularities will not be tolerated at any level.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

**Four Police Personnel Already Face the Axe**<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Prior to this, during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, Amit Sanghi, DIG of the Gwalior Range, visited the Ruthiyai outpost and the Dharnavada police station to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Upon being found *prima facie* guilty during the inquiry, four police personnel were suspended. Those suspended include Dharnavada Station In-charge (SI) Prabhat Katare, Ruthiyai Outpost In-charge (ASI) Sajid Hussain, Head Constable Devendra Singh Sikarwar, and Constable Sundar Raman. The DIG acknowledged that proper legal action was not taken during the vehicle check on March 19, and the conduct of the police personnel involved was found to be suspicious.<\/p>\n

**What Was the Case? Rumors of a \u20b920 Lakh ‘Deal’ and a ‘Refund’**<\/p>\n

The entire sequence of events began with the interception of a Gujarat-registered Scorpio vehicle on National Highway-46. Approximately \u20b91 crore in cash was recovered from the vehicle; however, instead of seizing the amount in accordance with regulations, the police personnel allegedly took \u20b920 lakh to hush up the matter. There is also speculation that the seized amount was subsequently returned (refunded) following the intervention of a senior IPS officer from Gujarat. Given the gravity of the matter, CCTV footage is now being scrutinized, and a search is underway for the businessman with whom this ‘settlement’ was allegedly brokered.<\/p>\n

**Accountability Will Be Fixed: Chief Minister**<\/p>\n

Through social media, the Chief Minister stated that the strictest action against the guilty will continue unabated. He delivered a clear message that in cases involving corruption and negligence, accountability will be fixed not only upon lower-ranking employees but also upon the district heads. Currently, following the removal of the Guna Superintendent of Police (SP), a sense of turmoil prevails throughout the entire department, and the scope of the detailed investigation could potentially extend to several other officials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
