Bhopal: Following the Supreme Court\u2019s directions regarding the commercial use of residential properties, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation has intensified its inspection drive in areas including Arera Colony and 10 Number Market.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to the information available, the civic body has started a survey to identify residential properties being used for commercial activities. An initial assessment suggests that around 1 lakh residential properties across the city could come under scrutiny. The survey is expected to continue until September 15.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Residents of Arera Colony have complained that commercial establishments, caf\u00e9s, shops and other businesses operating in residential areas have led to increased traffic and parking problems. The heavy movement of vehicles, particularly during the evening, has made access to several residential premises difficult.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Local resident Lavneesh Bhati said that the area has changed significantly over the past few years. According to him, streets that were once predominantly residential now resemble busy commercial markets, with vehicles frequently parked outside homes.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The issue of commercial activities and alleged unauthorised construction in residential buildings was raised before the Supreme Court by petitioner Vivek Tripathi. The ongoing municipal survey is expected to establish the extent of commercial use and determine further action under applicable rules.<\/p>\n
