Railway Station Water Alert: CAG Flags Serious Gaps at 458 Stations, Raises Questions Over Passenger Safety<\/p>\n

New Delhi: A major concern has emerged over the quality of facilities available to passengers at railway stations. According to a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), serious deficiencies were found at 458 out of 512 selected railway stations, accounting for more than 89% of the stations inspected.<\/p>\n

The report highlighted shortcomings in essential passenger services, including issues related to the availability, maintenance and quality of drinking-water facilities. At several stations, required services were either missing or inadequate compared with prescribed standards.<\/p>\n

The findings are particularly significant because millions of passengers depend on railway stations for drinking water during their journeys. Poor monitoring, inadequate testing and weak sanitation measures can potentially create health risks.<\/p>\n

The CAG findings have raised questions about the monitoring of drinking-water quality at railway stations and the need for regular testing and stricter hygiene standards. Passengers should remain cautious and prefer verified drinking-water facilities while travelling.<\/p>\n
