Guna. In Raghogarh—located in the home district of former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh—a case has come to light involving the physical assault of a youth inside the police station, following allegations that he posted inflammatory content on social media. Following the incident, outraged citizens and Hindu organizations gheraoed (surrounded) the police station and engaged in vigorous sloganeering. Given the gravity of the matter, Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal has ‘line-attached’ (transferred to reserve lines) two constables and has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
According to reports, the incident is said to have occurred on the day of Ram Navami. After the police stopped the DJ music playing during a procession, Neeraj Saini—a resident of Raghogarh—shared a post on social media in which he accused the police of disrupting a religious event. Allegedly, it was in the wake of this specific post that police personnel picked the youth up from his shop and took him to the police station.
