Bhopal, August 12, 2026: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced an immediate ban on the production, storage and sale of “analog paneer” made using vegetable oil, starch and vegetable fat instead of pure milk. The move aims to protect consumers and promote genuine dairy products.
Madhya Pradesh has become the fourth state after Maharashtra, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh to impose such restrictions. Following the announcement, the Food and Drug Administration has intensified inspections and raids across several districts, with suspected analog paneer being seized.
Analog paneer is generally prepared using skimmed milk powder, vegetable oil, starch and emulsifiers. It is significantly cheaper than genuine paneer and is reportedly used by some hotels, restaurants and caterers. The government has warned against food adulteration and misleading labelling.
