Guna: An uncomfortable situation emerged during the district-level Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan programme in Guna when proper seating arrangements were reportedly not made for key women public representatives, including Chachoda MLA Priyanka Meena Painchi and Municipal Council President Savita Arvind Gupta.
MLA Priyanka Painchi Expresses Displeasure from Stage
After reaching the stage, MLA Priyanka Meena Painchi openly expressed her displeasure over the seating arrangements. She said that the government has provided 33% reservation for women, but women representatives were not even being provided proper chairs to sit during the programme.
The MLA clarified that her intention was not to insult or target anyone, but said that the situation that unfolded was visible to everyone present.
She further remarked that programmes would look better if women were given adequate representation and prominent space. Taking a pointed dig at the situation, she said people could themselves understand how uncomfortable it must have been when a woman MLA and a municipal council president were left without proper seating arrangements.
