Torrential Rain Triggers Severe Flooding; Ramghat Submerged, UP-MP Connectivity Severely Hit
Chitrakoot: Chitrakoot district witnessed severe flooding after torrential rainfall late Friday night caused the Mandakini River to swell rapidly. By Saturday morning, the river had turned ferocious, creating what is being described as one of the most severe flood situations in the district this year.
Floodwaters from the Mandakini River have entered the main road from Bedi Pulia to Ramghat, along with several nearby residential areas. Several shops and single-storey buildings in the Ramghat area have been completely submerged.
Boats Operating on Roads as Water Levels Rise
The situation in Ramghat has become particularly alarming. Roads that normally witness heavy traffic are now covered with floodwater, with boats being used for movement in several areas.
The rising water level has also severely disrupted transportation between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, leaving residents and commuters facing significant difficulties.
Administration Issues Public Warning
Amid the worsening flood situation, the administration has intensified its monitoring of the affected areas. Warnings are being broadcast through loudspeakers, urging residents living in vulnerable areas to move to safer locations.
People have also been advised to stay away from the riverbanks, flooded roads and other dangerous areas.

With the Mandakini River continuing to remain swollen, authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation. Residents have been urged to remain alert and follow official instructions.
The dramatic scenes of boats sailing through waterlogged roads and submerged shops in Ramghat have highlighted the severity of the flooding in Chitrakoot.
