Harare | Sports Desk: India delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20 International, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The victory also marked Shreyas Iyer’s first-ever T20I series win as India’s captain, adding another milestone to his leadership journey.
Batting first, India posted a formidable 219/5 in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan starred with a blistering 81, while Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 60. The duo stitched together a crucial 94-run partnership for the fourth wicket, helping India cross the 200-run mark and put Zimbabwe under immense pressure.
Chasing a daunting target of 220, Zimbabwe began aggressively with Brian Bennett scoring a quick 32 off 19 balls. However, the Indian bowling attack struck back with regular wickets, dismantling the hosts’ batting line-up. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs, handing India a comprehensive victory.
With this emphatic triumph, India sealed the T20I series 2-0, while Shreyas Iyer celebrated his maiden bilateral T20I series win as captain. India’s clinical display with both bat and ball highlighted the team’s dominance and reinforced its strong form ahead of future international assignments.
