Drunk Driver’s Innova at 90 kmph Runs Over Father-Son in Bhopal, Father Dies; 7-Year-Old Son Admitted to AIIMS

Bhopal: A horrific road accident in Bhopal’s Kolar area late Tuesday night claimed the life of a 35-year-old man and left his 7-year-old son critically injured. According to police, a speeding Innova allegedly being driven under the influence of alcohol rammed into a scooter carrying the father and son near Ankit Parisar.
The scooter rider, identified as Shubham Awasthi (35), died on the spot, while his 7-year-old son Madhav sustained serious injuries. He has been admitted to AIIMS Bhopal for treatment.
Police said the 21-year-old Innova driver was allegedly heavily intoxicated. During the incident, he reportedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to go out of control.
The collision was so powerful that the Innova overturned, all its airbags deployed, and an electricity pole on the roadside was also damaged. Police reportedly recovered liquor bottles and other items from the vehicle.
The accused driver has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
